John T. Davis was enrolled in the 17th Infantry on October 27, 1861. He was mustered in on January 4, 1862 at Calhoun for a three year term. He was dischard with his unit in Louisville on January 23, 1865.

Buried in Ohio County near Sandefur's Crossroads at Brick House Cemetery.
