Cortez X. Bean was enrolled in the 17th Infantry on November 2, 1861. He was mustered in on January 4, 1862 at Calhoun for a three year enlistment in Company G as a private. Was transferred to Company F on April 12th, 1862, by General Order No. 74, Department of Mississippi. He was discharged on Jan 23, 1865 in Louisville with his unit.

Private Bean is buried in Mt Vernon Cem., Rosine/Dundee [Barry Goodall]
