Mayhugh Bratcher enrolled in the 17th Infantry on October 28, 1861. He was mustered in on January 4rd, 1862 at Calhoun for a three year enlistment in Company E. After consolidation he was assigned to Co I. He was appointed as corporal Sept 1st 1862. wounded at Cassville, Georgia, May 19, 1864. He was mustered out with his unit in Louisville on January 23, 1865
