To Whom this concerns,

I have been tracing down a particular family ancestor named James H.
Pollard Pvt. with the 17th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Union Forces.
I discovered him on your website in Co. A.
I am forwarding you a photo of his head stone. I photographed this in
2005 when I accompanied my mothers body back to Kentucky to be buried
in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery, 5 miles east of Fordsville,
Kentucky.
James Pollard is buried on the Pollard/Dalton family ancestoral farm
3 miles east of Fordsville and 2 miles west of Pleasant Grove near
Shreve Kentucky. The farm lays between Russ Lane and Shreve Rd. off
hwy 54, on the south side of the road. you can see the location at
the following link:

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&rlz=1T4ADFA_enUS343US344&q=Fordsville+Kentucky&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Fordsville,+KY&gl=us&ei=J4PIS_TGEI2a8ATax-GPCw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CAsQ8gEwAA

if you magnify the map, you will see two ponds side by side on the
south side of 54 between Russ Ln and Shreve Rd. That is where the
Pollard family farm lays. The headstone lays approx. 100 yrds north
from the remains of the Pollard farm house. The headstone is knocked
down due to cattle that are run on the property. As far as I know as
of this date, the head stone remains where it lays.
I thought you would like to have this for your records. The date of
death is 1863.

Sincerely,

Patrick King
